SideBooks App Reviews

Great comic reader!

Dropbox integration makes this one of the better comic apps out there. I tried highly reviewed apps like comicbooklover, but without access to the (mac) desktop application, all my files would show up in the same messy folder. With this app, however, Im able to easily organize my comics into folders. I can even crop the cover so that my collection appears consistent. It was a bit buggy at first but, after trying it out for a few minutes, it never crashes anymore. Extensions like .cbz and .cbr are perfect (.rar is a bit tricky... Not sure what else is supported). It could be a bit more user friendly, but def. a good app for people who just want a simple, clean comic reader.

Not impressed

For some reason, the left portion of PDFs are blurred and unreadable. So its unusable.

Useless app with all the crashing

As Im saying in the title, the app have a great design but if you are a power user the app crash as soon as you have to many books on it, try to reset the iPad nothing works if the app crash one time its it will keep on crashing the second you enter it every time after... useless app

Crashes constantly

App crashes non-stop once you add more than 25 comics, used to run fine until I updated my collection now i cant even get to my bookshelf

Awesome.

Running this on the iPad Mini. I have 30+ books and it runs fine. I love the Dropbox import function and the ability to tilt horizontal for viewing 2 page spreads. Would like the option to import from services like Skydrive or Google Drive but I have a feeling that might be an API restriction or something. Overall the best app Ive used for reading .cbr/.cbz files on iPad.

So Stable!!

Im amazed that this app hasnt crashed yet even with my giant library of comics. It only crashed if there was a damaged file and after a few moments, the app was stable enough to allow time to delete the broken file. My FAVOURITE app!

Crashes

Nice and easy enough to navigate and use, but the constant crashes whenever you add just a bit too much at a time is getting frustrating.

Some cbr files are not working

I put some möbius comics and mostly all of them corrupted and crashed the app. They work fine on my pc though.

Nice app but missing one feature: Owncloud support

Nice app. Has some issues with sharpness at certain zoom levels, not sure about the bookmark feature but other than that, does the job. Would be nice to have Owncloud support. Thanks.

Crash-Books

Sidebooks should be called Crash-Books instead. I downloaded it and attempted to load a number of comics on to my iPad. Sidebooks opens and loads about 2 lines of comics and then crashes. I cant even tell you how it looks to read a book, cause I cant get there.

Good app - close to being great

I use this on my ipad (and iphone) very regularly to read cbr/cbz/pdf files. It occasionally crashes when loading pages of cbz/cbr files and won’t relaunch until I delete the file through itunes. A work around for this is alternating the file extensions and re-loading which has seemed to work. In addition to this – more cloud support would be nice (ie skydrive, google drive, box.net, etc) would take this app to the next level. Regardless of its shortcomings I’ve recommended this app to several friends who all seem to share the same positive experiences and suggestions.

Absolutely useless.

I dont know why this comes with a Dropbox option, since every time I try to load a file from my Dropbox, the program crashes. Even when I start the program again, it crashes again and again until it finally decides that it cant recognize the file. But if I tap on the broken file icon just to see if it might work this time, it just crashes again. If it helps, Im using an ipad2 running iOS 7

Good, also bad...

Seems easy to use, took a while to figure out how exactly to use it... Love the bookshelf display, but WILL NOT SHOW ANY CBZ!!! >.<

Pretty good

Works with all my cbr and cbz files. I like the page flipping animation and the ability to change the cover that is displayed on the shelf. But i stopped using sidebooks because once you have a lot of comics its hard to see what is what. I think there is a way to group them though. The main reason i stopped is that its picky with some files, sure i can fix them so they arent corrupted. But some are displayed as being 2 pages when its only one. Other apps dont do that so i switched

Love it!

Love the page flipping animation, and the option for two page display when shifted sideways. I would like to have the option to view different pages in different orientations within one file eg first page is vertical, second is two pages together...I would like to be able to crop one without the other getting cut off). Other than that I love reading on it! Not sure what all the preferences are of though (the smallintervals vs wideintervals doesnt do anything as far as I can tell).

Great

Wish for custom grid view function

good, but

Can you hide the status bar while reading the book?

Clean and simple

This App is a graphic novel readers best friend. Easy to transfer from computer to my iPad via drop box. You can zoom in as close as you like and still navigate from page to page with ease and without loosing image quality. Lots of other options make it possible to experience graphic novels the way they were meant to be. Its been my favourite for a year now. Thanks for continued updates and keep up the great work!

PDF Reader Extraordinaire!

This is a damn excellent little app. I needed ONE lousy feature in a PDF reader - to view 2 pages in landscape mode. After downloading a ton of apps, most of which do not have this feature, do it badly, and / or require me to sign up to their newsletter, etc, I saw this mentioned in an online post. EXCELLENT. Fast. Nice interface. NO SIGNUP REQUIRED. Uncluttered with unnecessary features. Cheap (free). WELL DONE DEVELOPER!

Best

The best pdf and cbr reader!!!
