I was searching for a PDF viewer that does some very specific things, and every other PDF viewer out there was far too limited for my use. Sidebooks, on the other hand, is the only one I found that does it right. It allows viewing a page spread in landscape mode (also recognizing a cover page, so spreads will show correctly if there’s a cover page), Dropbox integration makes it easy to add or update files in the library, page trimming allows the cropping of empty/blank margins (which makes the content larger), bookmark list/links makes it easy to go directly to a specific bookmarked page, the lower page scrubber makes scrubbing to a specific page quick and painless. It is the best PDF viewer out there. The only two issues that I’ve come up against the version I have (2.12) is that the page scrubber at the bottom doesn’t read the actual page numbers/sections in the PDF. For example if you have a contents section numbered i-vi, and then after the contents section, the main contents section starts with page 1, Sidebooks thinks this is page 7 in the scrubber since it seems to count only the pages in the document rather than looking at the PDF’s actual page numbers, so if you scrub to page 100 with the page scrubber, you’ll actually end up on page 94 of the PDF. Also, my PDF has links in the contents section that you can click to go directly to the specified page. Sidebooks does recognize these links, but they’re difficult to activate and the links have to be clicked in a very specific way, so pressing a link only works about 1 out of 6 tries. I’m hoping these issues will get fixed in a future update, but it’s still the best PDF viewer out there. (And if any developers are reading this, a night view mode that inverts the colors and makes the white page dark and text light, so that the screen isn’t so bright in dark situations, would be great!) Kind of an ugly interface, but definitely does a good job with my epubs and PDFs.

This app is the best I ever used for comic book reading. Everything is so nice and good. Especially trimming option is fantastic!! However, I wish some parts to be improved. First, app cannot read the file when names of image files are encoded with some minor languages format such as Korean, Chinese, and Russian. Second, this app only support dropbox. I hope there are more options. Especially FTP server and google drive. Last, only can read when image files are zipped in one file. I hope this app can read folders too.

I have a huge collection of comics in cbr and cbz formats but this app DOES NOT read my files that are .cbz... Those same files work fine on my PC but causes this app to crash or show error icon..

It was working fine for about 2 weeks and now all of a sudden it wont even open and crashes every time.

Hi I just let you know I the App is great, but recently I notice I began to get problems to send my comics via e-mail through to the App. I used this add before and worked perfectly, but now when the email page is open the app is frozen, and I cannot do anything with the app, is should be great if you can fix this issue.

I noticed if I open some PDF file that the color were all wrong. Same as I open with iBook. But those file were in correct color if I open on PC or open with apps such like foxi PDF Reader or Adobe reader. Could you please fix it. Those PDF file were books published by DK. many thanks.

The best comic book reader of the several I previously tested. Just what I was looking for.

Scratch that its the best comic reader period.

Very good app. Performs as advertised, quick and snappy, lightweight. It does NOT support RAR format like it claims, however. They all show a broken icon. Please, please: - implement double-tap to zoom-to-width.

I use it all the time. I prefer to use this versus Apple’s iBooks. I love the cat which clearly sits near the book or item you last visited. They’ve done so good a job that the lack of English instructions don’t bother me; I can extract enough understanding from the Japanese manual. One can create folders within folders and sub-categories. I prefer their way of working so much that I had been previously disappointed that there isn’t a desktop version yet. The app has changed my mind regarding the iPad’s utility. I comprehend better how the iPad is better for books and notes versus the laptop. Arigato Tatsumi-system Co., Ltd!!

Used to be an amazing app. Used to be a 5 star app. Needs page turning animation fixed to be more smooth going page to page. Needs a working Calibre plugin. Needs the ability to sync multiple accounts on with recent updates to Google Drive, Box, Dropbox, One Drive, etc. Please update, and easily worth as being a 5 star app.

My favorite Textbook, Novel, and Comic reader. Great layout. Easy to use. Lots of functionality.
